Mentor Text Linky // Currently // Manic Monday

A lot of linking up to do today!  First, we are linking up with Collaboration Cuties for their Mentor Text Linky!  This week the theme is Language Arts!  We selected a book we use while teaching and reviewing punctuation.  This book is one that could be used in multiple grade levels and is sure to be a student favorite!

This book is about punctuation mark characters (like Quentin the Question Mark and Penny the Period) that are practicing for their school's upcoming Punctuation Bee (which is a cute twist to a spelling bee). The characters really want to beat Elsie the Exclamation Point who brags often and is sure to win the bee so they work extra hard to prepare.  This book is witty and fun with pictures that keep the kiddos attention.

If you'd like to review punctuation with your kiddos in the days or weeks you have remaining, we are including this FREEBIE, which is a beach themed sentence sort.  It is one of the activities in our End of the Year packet which has kept our students engaged recently!  It can be used whole group, for a center, or with partners.

We are also linking up with Oh Boy, Fourth Grade for the June Currently Linky!

  9. Love the sentence sort! I do something similar with my fifth graders. I'm with you on the report cards. Because we are departmentalized, I have to wait for all my sixth grade homeroom students' teachers to complete their grades before I can prepare the kiddos' cards. I'm waiting on ONE teacher!!!! arrgghhh, I had time this weekend to do the cards... just breathe!

Enjoy the last few days, ladies! It'll be over before we know it!

  12. What a cute book. All year when I conference with students on their writing, the omission punctuation marks is a constant comment from the first day of writing until the last.
I hope your week is not as crazy as it probably is :) .
    Hang in there.
