Five for Friday 11.8.13 (and a Manic Monday FREEBIE)

Happy Friday!

{ONE}
We have been busy teaching Connections in our classrooms!  This week we used The Teacher Wife's Connection worksheets.  The symbols on the worksheets are very easy for the kiddos to understand.  We shrank the worksheets down prior to the students working on them to allow us to make an anchor chart with their work.

  We definitely have more work to do to gain complete understanding of Connections in our classrooms.  Each year we find that our kiddos have the most trouble with Text to World Connections.  Do yours have that same issue? Share how you are teaching Connections!  Join our ongoing monthly SPARK linky!

Our school celebrates Veteran's Day in a BIG way! Students at our school invite family members that are Veterans to joins us for a special assembly.  It is the sweetest thing!  We made these cute little soldiers to decorate our part of the hall.  We also had our kiddos write letters to a soldier, and they turned out really sweet.

"Dear Soldier, Thank you for protecting us from evil.  Please keep this hard work up, and I am glad you in our community.  I am glad that you fight for us.  And I want to know how the army is going.  I know you are smart, nice, cool, and helpful."

In honor of Veteran's Day, we are having a sale in our store this weekend.  The sale will run Saturday through Monday.  We will be offering 20% off all of our products!

We have been teaching Place Value this week in math.  Our kiddos love this unit each year!  We never had enough activities to keep our students engaged during our Place Value unit, so we created "Oscar One and Thomas Ten" to help our students practice their base ten skills.

This week we finished up our winter packet, "Baby it's Cold Outside!"  This packet contains over 30 activities to get you through the winter months!  Winter Wonderland, Christmas / Hanukkah, and New Year / Chinese New Year are the themes covered.  There are Language Arts and Math activities for each theme.  Check it out!
