Five for Friday {1.3.14}

Happy Friday to all of you!!!

Here's a peek at our {short} week:

We are so excited to be a part of a new Collaborative Blog, Who's Who and Who's New, which launched January 1st!  There are 40 teacher authors that are writing posts on a variety of topics.  There will be a new post daily.  Our first "blogging day" will be January 6th!  We hope you stop by!

We headed back to school on Thursday.  It was difficult to get moving Thursday morning, but we made it and the kiddos did too!  We started the New Year with these cutie pies, complete with their "Goals for 2014":

We also said goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014 (if you would like a free copy of this activity click here):

In case you missed the announcement on TpT's Facebook page, our product,  "1st Grade Math Bags Winter Version" is FREE through Sunday!  This product includes 10 easy to make math centers with a winter theme that are sure to keep your kiddos engaged!  Math Bags have been one of most popular products, don't miss out on this fun freebie!  After Sunday, it's back to $4.00!

We have started our unit on Time.  Time is a fun concept to teach but can be hard for so many of our kiddos!  We've been working hard on the activities from our "Party Time" mini unit!

We plan to complete this class book next week, which you can get FREE by clicking here!

We delve into non fiction next week.  We have been getting our polar bear and penguin items together to prepare!   We really like to use polar bears and penguins to demonstrate the similarities and differences between fiction and non fiction text.  You always know it's January when you start thinking about these cold creatures!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Hey there, fellow Who's Who Bloggers! I love that you also mentioned the new blog in your post! I can't wait to read your post on the 6th.

    Thanks for the awesome freebies! We go back to school on Monday, and I am sure I will be able to use the 2013/2014 freebie!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! We are glad you can use the freebies! Happy New Year!

  2. Thank you sooo much for your Winter Math Bags. I love them and am looking forward to purchasing more. I am new to the whole write on laminated pages - just got a laminator. I know what rock have I been hiding under? Anyway do the markers erase nicely off of them? is it important to stick with Expo brand or do the generic brands erase as well? Thanks! Maria

    1. Hello there! The markers come off fairly easy, but it does take some "elbow grease." I have found that Magic Erasers (Mr.Clean) work very well. If the kids can't use these at your school, you can always go back every once in a while and give them a good cleaning with them. We haven't noticed a difference in Expo / off brand markers. We hope your kiddos enjoy Math Bags!
