Mentor Text {2.2.14} AND February Currently!

Good Morning!  We are linking up with Collaboration Cuties for their Mentor Text Linky.  This week the theme is Language Arts.  Last week we had ONE day of school due to snow (it was actually only 2 inches of snow, but living in NC they aren't prepared for winter weather!)!  So…we thought it would be fun to read a snow day book upon returning.  The book we chose, Snow Day, is a cute story about kids who dream of all the fun things they will do when they hear that there is snow in the forecast…sledding, hot cocoa, snow angels, etc.  The pictures are great and it's neat to see all the ideas the kids come up with.  We think our kiddos will like it and we hope yours do too!

After we read the book, Snow Day, we have a three writing prompts that the kiddos can choose to work on; a personal narrative prompt, a "how to sled" prompt, and a snow day vs. school day opinion prompt.  If you'd like a FREE copy of

  1. So cute! I wish I'd had this book last week when it snowed here and I could have used this as a jumping off point as it was snowing outside! My kids were adamant about being out the next day (since it never snows in GA hardly) and this book would have been cute to read before we left (and then were out for two days!)
    Thanks for linking up!

  3. I think everyone is ready for spring. I know I am. I need sunshine! That Snow Day book looks like fun. Unfortunately, we are not getting much snow here in New Mexico. In fact, we're in a severe drought. Maybe we'll get a little dusting this week. Enjoy your sunshine!

  6. Looks like such a cute book! I've never heard of it before, but with our Wisconsin winters, I'll be sure to check it out soon. :) Thanks for the freebie - love the simple opinion writing included. I'm sure my first graders will have some very STRONG opinion on that topic. ;)
