We hope you've had a great week…here's a peek into ours:
We finished up our Summarizing unit in Language Arts. We love this comprehension strategy and our kiddos do too. Summarizing is a difficult concept to teach, but we've found that anchor charts like this one (and practicing with A LOT of different books) helps a great deal!
We also reviewed Dental Health with this fun (and telling) experiment. The students were able to see the effects of soda on our teeth:
And we read this fun book, What if You Had Animal Teeth, and wrote about what kind of animal teeth we would want:
"If I had dog teeth I would use it for scaring away something that is trying to bother me."
We added a fun new packet to our store, Operation 120. This number sense packet includes 5 easy and engaging centers that target the numbers 90-120. We found that our kiddos struggle with larger numbers (especially writing them past the number 109) and we needed a way to practice that they would enjoy. We plan to do these centers on our 120th Day of School…which is coming up soon!

We are getting ready for our classroom Leprechaun to arrive. He will show up in our classroom on Monday! He will look for kindness and hard work (while hiding all around the room) and will leave certificates for the kiddos when he sees it! Last year our kiddos LOVED this and we were so glad it helped with behavior (for that week anyway)! Check out our Leprechaun on a Classroom Shelf packet in our store!
This week wouldn't have been complete without Dr. Seuss! Happy kiddos reading some of their Dr. Seuss favorites:
Have a super weekend!
