Mentor Text 4.16.14

Happy Sunday! Today we are linking up with Collaboration Cuties for their Mentor Text linky.  This week the theme is Science.  We decided it would be fun to share one of our favorite Spring books.  It's officially Spring this week; on the 20th!  Now if it will just hurry up and feel like Spring in NC for more than a day or two!  The book, When Will it Be Spring, is a fun story about a bear cub that is too anxious to settle down for the Winter because he wants to know all about Spring.  He is continuously looking for signs of Spring and mistakes Winter things (like snowflakes) for Spring things (like butterflies).  The pretty illustrations and the bear cub's curiosity make it an enjoyable book for the kiddos.  We look forward to reading it this week to prepare for Spring!

After reading this book, we plan to do this activity (below) with our kiddos.  This simple graphic organizer allows students to think of words associated with Spring for each letter of the alphabet.
