Five for Friday {4.11.14}
Yay for Friday!!  We've made it through our first week back after Spring Break!  We hope you've had a great week.  Here's a peek at what we've been up to!

Over Spring Break, we completed our Seasonal Math Bags for grades K, 1, and 2!!  We also bundled them together.  Now you can get a year's worth of math center activities in one purchase!  We want to celebrate with an AWESOME deal this weekend.
This deal will be set for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!!  If you LOVE Math Bags, this is a deal you CAN'T pass up!!  Click the picture above to head to our store for a whole "bundle" of Math Bag love!

We wrapped up our Genre Unit this week by reading several books on the same topic, but in different genres.  So we took the topic of DOGS.  Then we read several dog books from different genres.  We had the kiddos think about from which genre they liked to read about dogs and why many authors write books on the same topic.
We've got 3 Genre FREEBIES in our TpT store!!

Spring Has Sprung in our classrooms!!  Since returning from Spring Break, we've had warm weather, which has been AMAZING!!  We are loving it!!  Not to mention, it has greatly helped our Spring activities in the classroom this week!
We had some great Spring Scholastic News Magazines piled up that fit in perfectly!  After we read an issue, kiddos complete a Spring activity from our Spring Has Sprung pack.
This Spring passage and comprehension strategy pack has been wonderful for guided reading groups this week!  It is a great time to review what comprehension skills we've done so far this year!

This week we picked back up with our Authors as Mentors Writing Unit.  We are studying Mo Willems as our author.  We are LOVING how excited the kiddos are to read his books!  During Daily 5 they are always grabbing them off the is so fun to hear them read them with exaggerated expression!
We used the Pigeon books to talk about different sentence types.
We used the Elephant and Piggie books to look at motion lines....
 and dialogue in speech bubbles.
We've been recording the writing crafts of Mo Willems on this chart.  To find out more about these activities and find more great resources to teach Author's Craft, check out our Pinterest Board for this unit!

Tamra is back at school after her maternity leave!!  I (Sarah) am SUPER excited to have by best teaching buddy back at school!  We've already been chatting like crazy at recess!!  To welcome her back, I made her a few goodies:
Photo Cubes with her adorable cuties!!

Guacamole - her favorite snack!!
