Five for Friday 6.6.14

Hello!  It's Friday, which means it's time to link up!

We finished up our Synthesizing unit this week.  Our students loved our lesson with Matryoshka Dolls!    These are great to illustrate that synthesizing is growing knowledge and changing your thinking over time while reading!
We worked on summarizing our year in first grade with this ABC's of First Grade anchor chart.  The kiddos had fun brainstorming all of the fun we've had this year!

We have been busy, busy, busy working on report cards…they're close to done!

Kindergarten kiddos visited to see all about first grade today.  We read the book, First Grade Stinks and compared and contrasted KG and 1st grade together.  Looks like we are going to have another sweet bunch next year.

Sometimes the best lessons are those which come from extra things you find in the room!  We had lots of extra shape cut outs.  We didn't give "directions," other than to create a shape scene.  1 kiddo said, "You mean, I can make ANYthing??"  Yep…you're right.  Kids are so creative, gotta love the way their minds work!

Kids at the pool…

"Old Tractor"…

Have a super weekend!

  4. The ABCs anchor chart is a great idea - I think I'll definitely do this and share it with my new class either on meet the teacher day or the start of the year so they can see some of the things they might be learning or doing!
