Five for Friday 9.26.14

Happy Friday Everyone!

Here's a quick peek at our week!

{ONE}
Our kiddos are LOVING Read to Someone!  Don't you wish Daily 5 would've been around when we were all kids?  I would've loved nothing more than to read with friends in class!

{TWO}
We started our Print a Packet reading comprehension packs this week.  We designed these so that each week we would have a packet that contained one story and several activities that students could work on throughout the week; both with us during small group instruction and also during D5 time.

We blogged about our Print a Packet's HERE!

You can find them in our store:

HERE for First Grade

and HERE for Second Grade

{THREE}
Apples, Apples, we all scream for Apples!  Apple tasting is always a hit.  We tried apples, applesauce, apple juice, and apple cereal bars!

Here is a freebie we shared last Fall we use while the kiddos enjoy their apple treats!

{FOUR}
Have you ever read The Important Book?  It's great for teaching Main Idea!  The book tells the important parts of simple everyday objects.  Our kiddos did the same thing:
 "The important thing about a horse is that it is brown and you can ride it."
"The important thing about a chair is brown and you sit on it."

{FIVE}
We've been working on incorporating Interactive Notebooks into the classroom.  The kiddos love them and we do too....just wish they didn't take so long for the kiddos to get the pages in their notebooks!  Does it get easier??  Any suggestions to help us build a routine for assembling Interactive Notebook pages?  We'd love some tips!!

Have a SUPER weekend!!

Math Bags are also up and running now!  We are so glad to have work our kiddos can do independently so that we can work with small groups on math skills!

We have blogged about Math Bags  A LOT!!  You can read all about them HERE (including a few freebies to try!)!  Math Bags are one of our biggest sellers because they are teacher friendly, student friendly, and printer friendly (and economical too…30+ centers for just over $10!)!

We have Math Bags for:

{FOUR}
Need a good book to teach your kiddos about keeping the classroom clean?  Have you ever read Pigsty?  It's a must read.  The kiddos love it and so do we!
"I learned that it is not so good to have a messy room."
"You have to keep your room clean."

{FIVE}
TRC's are D.O.N.E!!!  Now we look forward to starting our Reading Groups!!!

Five for Friday {9.5.14}

It's Friday! Time to link up!

Here's a peek at our week:

{ONE}
Read to Self has officially begun!  Our kiddos did a nice job and seemed to enjoy their quiet reading time.

{TWO}
Our comprehension focus this week was Central Message.  We used Kevin Henkes books for this.  His books are the best!

The kiddos especially enjoyed "crossing off" their worries after we determined the central message of Wemberly Worried.

{THREE}
More number sense in math this week!  We made "mystery number" circle maps this week (number representation).

{FOUR}
Testing, testing, testing!  We have finished Dibels testing….now onto TRC's.

{FIVE}
Make sure to follow us on TpT!  First Grade Buddy followers get a "Buddy Bonus" each month!  A new "Buddy Bonus" will be coming soon…we are preparing it as we speak!  You don't want to miss out!

Have a great weekend!
