Simple Science : Grow a Tree

Grow a Tree Experiment
This experiment is an easy set up and has an extended observation time.  It's perfect to add welcome spring by starting a seed growing project or use it to add a little holiday spirit to your classroom by growing a Christmas Tree! The prep work for this experiment could be timely, depending on the skill level of your kiddos.  You'll need to cut sponges into a Christmas tree shape.  Getting the trees ready to go is the easy part!  Find out more about this experiment here!
Getting materials ready and prepping the experiment!  Cut and wet the sponges, spread on grass seed, and spray the seeds with water.

And now wait...have kiddos observe and record what they see every few days.

About a week in, we had a few sprouts, then more sprouts!  It kept growing until we decided to trim up the tree!

Your kiddos will LOVE this part!  Carefully, they can trim the grass.  It really looks like an evergreen tree or Christmas tree after the trim!
